I LIKE AUSTIN

rainbow1_400.jpg

I ate so much queso in Austin that I was sweating half and half. I love that stuff. It's basically mexican cooking cheese melted in cream with jalapeno pepper and soft tortillas to dip in. You can make it at home with any cheese. It's hard to make cheese and heavy cream taste bad.

I finished posting pictures below. Margaret grew up down there, knew tons of people and knew her way around. So we pretty much ignored sxsw. There were too many bands, you had to figure out who was playing where and what party is what time etc. Then you get trapped in a showcase for hours. I could care less so we just met friends and ended up whereever. The bars that catered to local hipsters were amusingly darkened and had their doors shut to try and make themselves invisible to the hipster cancun throng on the street outside. We did go to some shows. Things have a way of working out and stumbling on an awesome shows by accident is so much more fun. Like we randomly headed over to Emo's outdoor one afternoon and walking down the wall to the entrance I was like, "wait, that's The Hold Steady...yes!" Free admission and when I tried to buy a beer, they were like, it's free. So that was the best show we saw. I text messaged Catherine and bragged because she's a huge fan and took me to see them 2 years ago.

Margaret's brother, who's 15, was telling us about his skater friend Harris Greenwood while we were eating mexican brunch and Margaret cracks up and goes "anyone named Perry Greenfield or whatever I need to meet immediately." So we call him and his mom drives him over. After eating, we drove back to the house and Harris is like, "wanna see me jump out of a tree and hurt myself." So of course I was like, "ok" and took pictures.

Spring weather in texas is like perfect summer in nyc weather. We had a flash thunderstorm one day and then a huge rainbow broke out over the church across the street.

We went to most of the fancy schmancy hard to get into parties and they were all boring. The music and PR kids looked like they were working and not having much fun. I saw Tommie Sunshine at the entrance of every single place I showed up. I think he must have imposters running around with crazy hair and vagina beards. We got to the vice party late and there were 600 people waiting in line. Luckily Margaret had marched up and kicked it to the lead singer of a cool band and he pulled strings to get us in after our record company friend shrewdly solved the line problem by cutting it and sweet talking the angry people behind us. We got wisked in and caught the Go Team. They were ok. I liked queso better. The end of the fashion people party sort of summed up parties at sxsw. James Murphy was spinning, who I'm a huge fan off, and yet I looked at Margaret and said, "hey let's split and go get gingerbread pancakes." Five minutes after we sit down James Murphy and his friends sat down in the booth next to us.

it looks like the storm clouds are only above the freeway - thats pretty neat. the fill flash on the girls worked nicely too.

this website reads like a slightly milder version of Vice magazine or something.

yeah sorry greenwood, I have an idea to make that video into a pretentious thing with music. I'll start working on it and post it soon. Definitely with that sound.

I know I have crazy hair, but what exactly is a "vagina beard"?

God, I was in such a bad mood when I wrote this. I think I've been in a six month bad mood, I should erase some of this stuff. For some reason beards always remind me of that. Maybe I should talk to my psychiatrist about it...
